Andy Gray is the Manchester-based co-founder of KnownOrigin and BlockRocket, publicly known as awaygray.1 Gray said KnownOrigin’s founders became interested in blockchain through the Blockchain Manchester meetup and created a platform where artists and collectors could trade digital art; the venture began with an Ancoats pop-up and was acquired by eBay in 2022.2 An eBay investor release confirms that acquisition and describes KnownOrigin as an early NFT-marketplace pioneer serving digital creators, sellers and buyers.3 In the 2024 interview, Gray also said he had lived in Manchester since attending university there roughly three decades earlier.2
