FlamingoDAO was introduced in October 2020 as the first DAO incubated and formulated by The LAO community, applying a member-directed “hive mind” model to the NFT field.1 Its founding statement described a remit broader than purchasing: members intended to commission artists, support projects and communities, and experiment with collectively managed or fractionalized digital works.1 The organization initially offered members voting and economic interests through contributions to the DAO, while proposed “curators”—drawn from founders, artists, and other NFT participants—would advise the community.1

In July 2025 Cointelegraph reported that Flamingo DAO’s portfolio was still worth “well above nine figures” and listed twelve Grifters by XCOPY among its holdings.2 In October 2026 the DAO announced that it had acquired XCOPY’s Gobshites, with @Fountainxyz assisting in brokering the purchase.3
