A 2023 interview identifies Sillytuna as Alex Amsel and describes his background in game development, including more than fifteen years running a game studio before moving into blockchain work.1 Writing as Sillytuna in 2016, Amsel described his gaming background and named himself among the founders of Ownage, a project intended to apply Ethereum smart contracts to ownership and trading of digital game content.2 In a 2021 interview following Sotheby’s Natively Digital sale, he explained that he researched Kevin McCoy’s Quantum with curator Robert Alice and artist Rhea Myers because he wanted its provenance better understood publicly.3
