In a 2022 interview, Bankless introduced Jimmy McNelis as “better known as j1mmy.eth” and identified him at that time as founder and CEO of nft42 and an advocate for on-chain art.1 A 2023 profile and interview records that he acquired his first CryptoKitty in December 2017 and that dissatisfaction with its off-chain storage helped motivate Avastars.2 He described Avastars, launched in February 2020, as an on-chain generative project influenced by CryptoKitties and Autoglyphs and designed to give intellectual-property rights to holders.2 In that interview, he presented on-chain preservation, creator royalties and holder rights as recurring priorities in his public work.2
