Artnome is the public identity associated with Jason Bailey’s art-and-technology publication of the same name, which describes its mission as improving the art-historical record through technology and data while promoting artists working where art and technology intersect.1 Bailey has written that he earned an MFA from the Dynamic Media Institute at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2010 and previously worked across generative art, design, painting, printmaking, and sculpture.2 His curatorial activity has included co-curating the historical generative- and AI-art exhibition “Automat und Mensch” and organising “Augmenting Creativity—Decoding AI and Generative Art” at Nanjing University.3
Bailey is also XCOPY’s earliest documented NFT collector. In a December 2022 interview for Right Click Save, he asked whether he was indeed the artist’s ‘first NFT collector from when I bought that piece on Ascribe in early 2018 for $1’; XCOPY replied, ‘Yes, that was my first NFT sale.’4 In the same exchange Bailey recalled that when the Ascribe NFTs were no longer available, XCOPY ‘minted and transferred an NFT on SuperRare to me and your other early collectors.’4
