Pranksy is a pseudonymous collector who said a friend introduced him to CryptoKitties near the end of 2017.1 He initially used the name “Pranked,” then adopted Pranksy when preparing to mint his first artwork.1 In a 2025 interview, he explained that Pranksy had expanded to represent a team supporting projects including NFTBoxes and House of Pranksy, while the public social-media voice remained his own.1 In a separate 2025 interview, he described House of Pranksy as a community centered on education, storytelling, creative collaboration, and in-person connection, with non-transferable memberships intended to limit speculation.2
In November 2023 Pranksy recalled buying all ten editions of one XCOPY work on Rarible in 2020, then reselling them for the same price after other collectors became concerned that the repurchase price might “rocket”.3 The post did not name the work.3
