Shortcut is the published alias of German artist, writer, and collector Jörn Bielewski.1 His biography says he began with computer science and fine art before training as a cameraman and editor during analogue television’s final years, later moving into nonlinear editing.1 He began writing about art and blockchain on Steemit in 2016, sold physical work for Steem in 2017, and started minting his own work on Ethereum in 2018.1 His practice spans glitch, channel-shift, GAN-generated, line-art, and animated imagery, with recurring attention to machine failure, digital identity, and the human presence inside technological systems.1

On X, where he posts as Shortcut, he wrote on 11 February 2026 that, after spending much time on Steemit, where art posts earned some crypto, he went to Twitter for new input to blog about and “discovered Xcopy.”2 Later the same day he added, “I still hold a bunch of his works.”3 The following day he reflected that “Xcopy was once struggling to sell out an edition of 10. He even had to put it on sale.”4
