hex6c

hex6c is a generative artist and data scientist whose published practice explicitly connects art and science.¹ In a 2022 interview, he described interdisciplinarity and cross-pollination as central to his artistic research, citing Almagesto’s use of Ptolemaic astronomy and Incomplete Falling Trees’ combination of floating trees, Gödel’s incompleteness theorem, and generating code.¹ He said he began minting work in early 2018, first on KnownOrigin and then SuperRare, and subsequently treated different platforms as distinct creative challenges.¹ The same interview explains that his training in science, mathematics, and computer science informs his art; Primenuum, created with Hackatao, explored a visualization of prime numbers.¹

In February 2024 hex6c recounted buying XCOPY’s All Time High in the City from the artist for 0.5 ETH in late 2018 and reselling it to Moderats Art at the end of 2019 for 10 ETH, calling that sale “Probably the worst financial move of my life but in hindsight maybe a blessing”.² The same account traces the work’s later resales for 1,000 ETH and 1,630 ETH, from which hex6c reported receiving 18.15 ETH in collector royalties as its first collector.² In September 2024 Benji announced the acquisition of the twentieth work XCOPY minted on SuperRare, one of seven airdropped to Ascribe supporters, thanking hex6c for the transaction.³
